Mail Art Swap

Hello Peeps!

It's about time I share with you all, the little creations both sent & received
following my first Mail Art Exchange.

I have sent my envelope a little while ago to Rita in Sweden

For this occasion, I have opted to stitch Snail Mail from Lizzie Kate
This is a bonus design from the stamp collection that
I was kindly gifted by Louise in 2013

Stitched on 14ct dark rustic aida fabric
2 over 1, using all preconized GAST, WDC threads.
I took the liberty to swap 1 GAST for a Nina's Thread
Finished off as my first envelope, complete with
lining on the inside and
a press stud for closing

I have also added a very British postcard, small chart and cotton threads

Here is the pieces I have received from
Thoeria all the way from South Africa

 The back

 The front

What a wonderfully made envelope!!
With my intial & I have conveniently placed (to hide my address, which was stitched too!)
some beautiful threads that were in my envelope too.

Thoeria has been way too generous!!
It was supposed to be a small exchange - not that I'm complaining :P

There was more beautiful silk threads, ribbon, buttons, scissors,
note book, fabric & bell pull.

Let's not forget the cute stitched card too.

Thank you so so much sweetie, I love everything.
Your envelope is just perfect!

Feel free to go and see the other participants's envelopes.
If you scroll down through their blog, you should be able to view their posts
about the Mail Art Exchange.

Granny Stripe Baby Blanket - Maybe Matilda

Hello Peeps!!
I am back & am so so so happy :)
Do you remember my little crochet adventure??
Well, that is it!! All done as off yesterday afternoon!!
Yes, I have made & finished my first crochet project:
A granny stripe baby blanket.
I am so proud of myself and am ever so grateful for
the wonderful tutorial made by Maybe Matilda
So here it is, after a bit of practising,
it's done & ready to go to it's new home.
I have used
DMC Natura Cotton
Ombre (less than 3 50gr yarn) and
Amaranto (less than 2 50gr yarn)
Finished off with a scalloped border
Apologies for blurry & colour variations on my pictures...

I love this little blanket!
It's so soft too.
Well my little hiatus is now over.
I am back to my beloved cross stitching needles that I have missed so much.
Will be back soon to share with you my first
Mail Art Exchange

A Little Wedding - Lizzie Kate

Hello Peeps!

As you probably already know, Ariadne recently got married.

My plan was to send her a little surprise on time for the wedding.
Somehow I got confused with the date and my parcel ended up being sent after the big day!

It has now arrived safely, so I can share this with you

Design is called A Little Wedding and is from Lizzie Kate

Chart came with 32ct lambswool linen fabric and a key charm

My model was worked using DMC stranded cotton
2 over 2 (& 1 over 1 for personalisation details - That was fun!)

As you know, my sight is not the best so I found stitching 1 over 1 on 32ct was quite a challenge!
But I've done it and am really pleased with these tiny crosses :)

Finished of as a small pinkeep,
which I found would be ideal for a keepsake.

I used trim, pins & fabric from my stash
The back...
Congratulations to you both,
wishing you many, many, years of happiness!!

Crochet update

Hello Peeps!!
So you thought I'd given up, didn't you?
Well, you don't know me very well then,
I am a stubborn person so...
Went back on that crazy adventure of mine to learn to crochet.
This time, I tried to make a granny square.
I have always loved those!
I found a really good tutorial on
Heather's blog called Little Tin Bird
All I can say is thank you sweetie for the perfect explanations,
I have finally made my first square :)
Ok, it's not perfect but I've made it!
So then I tried another one, of course.
That was it, I was on a roll!
Went back on the beautiful baby stripe blanket tutorial
from Rachel at Maybe Matilda
I was so impressed with my start that I've decided I was feeling confident enough
to give it a go with the real stuff
So off I went for a quick trip to Hobby Craft
to purchase a posh hook & 100% cotton DMC Natura wool
This is my start.
To all the expert crochet ladies, please do give me your opinion
Good or bad, I won't be offended!
I need all the advice I can get
(how to get rid of all these tails of wool)
Apologies, cross stitching is on hold for now.
I have found a new hobby

Taste the rainbow!

Hello Peeps!

Look what has arrived through my letterbox last week!
A wonderful surprise from Steph, Show & Tell

See, I have been admiring her recent rainbow crochet blanket.
It was my plan to learn to crochet to make a stripe blanket...

Knowing my sister was pregnant,
she's decided to use the leftover and made another blanket for Frenchie Baby Girl.

This is so so sweet!

Now I wish I could keep it but
it will be passed on to its new home soon.
There were a few goodies too,
which included a cute Snoopy mini pillow.
I love it! It has now found its place on my stash shelf :)

And fabric, mini buttons & Gorjuss ribbon!!!
Ooh, I love it all.
Thank you so much Steph for this unexpected surprise.
I can assure you your gifts will be treasured.
Now as for my crochet learning...
Well, I really wanted to make a granny stripe baby blanket using DMC Natura Cotton.
I found the most fabulous free tutorial from Maybe Matilda here
Being cleaver, I purchased one of them magazines that comes with wool, hook & needles.
I followed their instructions & was able to make:
Slip knot, chain stitch, single crochet & double crochet!
Not bad!!!
And then it all went horribly wrong.
No matter how much reading, looking & trying I was lost & confused :(
It made me realised that I will never be able to make this wonderful little blanket.
Crochet is not easy & my congratulations to all of you who can actually make beautiful pieces.
I will stick to my stitching SIGH but at least I gave it a go.
Have a stitch-crazy (or crochet-crazy) weekend!
